First Plus Size Fashion Parade!

As we countdown to the approaching “Big is Beautiful” Myer parade at this years Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival next week, it makes me think of how far we’ve come in a few short years.
Around this time two years ago 16 BGM Models were soaking their aching feet after days of rehearsals for the first ever plus size fashion parade with our client City Chic. It was a long process and a bit of a gamble by event organisers IMG but on the 20th August 2009 BGM’s plus size models filled the catwalk in Martin Place and the footage went around the world!
The response was incredible and I think both the organisers and the media were amazing at the incredible feedback that the parade produced. Women were thrilled to finally see something they could relate to on the catwalk! Especially in an event that proclaims to be “ready to wear”, it is so important to demonstrate diversity in fashion.
It is now something that consumers expect to see! The inclusion of models over a size 12 in the catwalks, and when there’s a solely plus size show like Myer is producing its amazing!
I am so very looking forward to seeing the Myer BIB parade. I remember seeing the pictures from the CC show and deciding I had to have (the above pictured) colourful maxi!
